My Pet is Missing

We understand that when your pet is missing it can be an extremely stressful time, follow the steps below to learn the most effective way to bring your pet home.

Step 1: Post your pet as missing on the local Teton Valley Pets (Lost and Found) Facebook page.  

In your post include a picture of your pet, as well as the sex, age, breed, when and where your pet was last seen and any extra information such as collar/ tag color, microchip information, and general demeanor of missing pet. If you don't have facebook the shelter would be happy to make a curtesy post. 

Step 2: Call the shelter (208) 354-3499.

Leave a description of your pet, such as name, breed, sex, age, last known location, microchip information and any distinguishing marks. By notifying the shelter of your missing pet, the shelter staff will be able to call you if your pet is brought in. Follow this link to learn about our lost pet recovery process. 

Step 3: Update your pet's microchip information.

First make sure your pet's microchip is up to date and accurate with your information. Then report your pet as missing to your pets microchip distributor. If you don't know the microchip distributor enter your pet's microchip number into th​is microchip search website.

Step 4: Reach out to other resources.

Step 5: Notify us when your pet is found.
